A community enterprise

The Majestic Theatre has been owned since October 2006 by Pomona Progress Art Tourism Inc, a not-for-profit, community-based association, incorporated in Queensland since 1995.

Previously, under the ownership of Ron West and his late wife Mandy, the Majestic Theatre gained world-wide recognition as an authentic silent picture house.

Following the change to community ownership it was given a major refurbishment and now operates as an all-purpose entertainment venue, suitable also for corporate events, wedding celebrations and community functions, as well as continuing screenings of the silent films.

A volunteer Board of Management, supported by a part-time administration assistant, handles the day-to-day business of the theatre and oversees its further development. Members are Stephen Hilditch (Pomona Inc president), Gwen Morton, Roy Harbour, Anne Coombes, Sharon Edwards and Warren Street.

The Board continues to draw on the unparalleled experience and expertise of Ron West.

Pomona Progress Art Tourism Inc also runs the Pomona Country Markets (on the second and fourth Saturday each month) and the Old Pomona Railway Station Art Gallery and Information Centre. Volunteers assist in all aspects of Pomona Inc activities and are particularly important to the running of the theatre.
