"If you really want to get along with somebody, let them be themselves"Quoted by Willie Nelson.
And this quote says it all for the formidable Country, Blues and Folk artist named Colin Fitzpatrick.
On meeting him for the first time there was no question about him being himself, quite the character indeed and this new album that he has penned and recorded here in Cootharaba Juke Joint is now to be launched at the Wonderful Majestic Theatre.
Here there will be songs and stories of Colin Fitzpatrick's life while on the road with his partner and trusty companion Robyn where the wheels of their 1967 Leyland took them all over Australia into the more off the beaten track area's where the red bull dust roads carry on from sunrise to sunset without a sinner to be seen.
Here Colin was able to line up shows just by his patter on the phone.
His history of a road musician has brought him rubbing shoulders with the likes of Slim Dusty and Chad Morgan back in the day when he won best new comer at the Tamworth Golden Guitar awards in the late 70's and this is where many moons ago he started with his son just 15 years old, now known as well known musician Hat Fitz, playing areas rough and ready in central Queensland where there would be a whole clatter of them on the trains rocking up with the likes of Sharmen's boxing tent along with the mechanical bull, Chad Morgan and their band to entertain the Sheep sheering and mining men and woman. When they really did need to let their hair down, this is where seasoned player Colin Fitzpatrick was able to rustle up a storm of Country, Blues and Folk to send them off into the night with a slumber and slurr.
Colin's experience on the road is not for the weak hearted with over half a century of musical background and yet he manages to have you cooing by the end of the night with a feeling of warmth in your heart.
With Colin Fitzpatrick at the helm sharing his poetic writings of his new material from real people and life experience on the road we welcome you all to join us for the launch of "It is How It Is"
